    Migraine Explained: Season Change

Autumn is here and it is time for fire-pits, s’mores, trick-or-treaters, pumpkin-spiced everything, and for some, an increase in migraine symptoms. As the autumn leaves colors of red and gold brighten the horizon, as the season change also creates changes that can trigger migraines. What Factors Cause Triggers as the Season Change? Barometric pressure change is the most common seasonal migraine trigger. As the seasons change, the barometric pressures shift and these changes, though sometimes minor, can trigger migraine attacks in people that are highly susceptible to barometric pressure changes. “Nevertheless, She Persisted” – My Weekend Mantra

The weekend wasn’t  a complete bust but it wasn’t a total success either. What I can say is that I did my best and no matter what happened, I persisted! I didn’t stop trying. Over the past few weeks, the weather has been rough. High humidity, High temperatures, storms and the barometric pressure changes have really taken a toll on me. And after the high pain weekend, I was starving! Since my mornings tend to be the best time of the day, I usually cook supper in the mornings. Sounds weird but hey sometimes you just have to go with the hand you’ve been given. Well, I live…

  • The Trigger That Can’t Be Avoided

I changed my diet to avoid the nitrates, MSG, CHOCOLATE and certain cheese that are triggers for my Hemiplegic Migraine. You know, those things that can keep me in the dark cave for the rest of the day. I have tried to learn new ways to handle stress and I have given myself permission to take naps and rest when needed. Of course, I take my medications just like I am supposed to and I follow my Doctors instructions to the best of my ability. I do absolutely everything I can to avoid the things that make life harder. There is just one trigger that I have not figured out…
