For at least 10 years, I have made Homemade Hot Chocolate for our family Christmas Eve gathering. It has always been a hit with everyone. This warm delicious drink is now synonymous with my thoughts of Christmas!
I have tweaked the recipe that I found many years ago and now consider this my own recipe. In fact, I can’t even seem to locate the original recipe that I used in the beginning. I hope you enjoy this and add it to your family Christmas traditions!
Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate
This is perfect for any winter gathering for several reasons.
- It is easy to make
- It is easy to serve with personal touches
- Most everyone love hot chocolate
Set up a Hot Chocolate Bar with some Whipped Cream, Chocolate curls, candy canes, crushed peppermint candy and some chocolate dipped spoons! Get some disposable coffee cups to make clean up easy and supply a red marker for everyone to put their names on the cups! You are limited only by your imagination! The Hot Chocolate Bar can be decorated to match your Holiday decor so that it fits seamlessly with the party.
If there are leftovers. just put it in a sealed container (an old milk jug works great) and refrigerate for up to 3 days. The Hot Chocolate can be put back into the slow cooker to warm back up or you can stir it and pour some in your mugs and warm in the microwave to enjoy quickly. I have also warmed this on the stove but you need to stir continually to keep it from scorching on the bottom.
I think that your family will love adding this the the list of holiday traditions and will expect it every year.
What is a beverage or food item that your family expects every year at Christmas?
