“Nevertheless, She Persisted - #chronicillness #perserverence #facingadversity #migraineThe weekend wasn’t  a complete bust but it wasn’t a total success either. What I can say is that I did my best and no matter what happened, I persisted! I didn’t stop trying.

Over the past few weeks, the weather has been rough. High humidity, High temperatures, storms and the barometric pressure changes have really taken a toll on me. These are all migraine triggers for me and there is nothing I can do about them…except push through.

I woke up on Saturday morning around 5 am with a Hemiplegic Migraine that fortunately responded well to my medication and I slept for a few hours more. When I woke up, all I wanted to do was get out of the house. I knew we wanted to go out for dinner but I know it is better to do things when I am feeling good.

Why I persisted!

So, we went to the outlets to find me a new pair of walking shoes. Of course, no parking near the entrance and I stubbornly tell my husband that I will walk. Using my new Drive Medical Rollator, I felt like I would be okay since I can easily sit down if I needed to.  We go to the Skechers store and I find exactly what I am looking for. My husband is looking around and it all starts to crumble. I am burning up, sweating like crazy but my skin is as cold as a block of ice and my face is bright red. Keep in mind, I am sitting down! I did nothing but try on 1 pair of shoes and I am sitting down! I am in a well air conditioned building and I am sweating like I just ran a marathon!

My husband takes one look at me and knows to is time to go. He paid for my shoes and went to get the car. While he was gone, the Hemiplegic Migraine started. It was a pretty bad one, made worse by the heat, humidity and bright sunshine. We went home and again, I slept for a few hours.

Well, I still wanted to go out for dinner and I wasn’t going to let the previous events stop me! So we went to Texas Roadhouse for a yummy dinner. Then I decided that I wanted to go walk around Hobby Lobby for a little bit. Again, air conditioned building, slowly walking just looking at things. I made it almost 1/4 of the store and I had to sit down (thank goodness for my rollator). Sweating, hot, ice cold and face bright red. We make it to the car and back on the road before it starts. This on was really bad.

Another day!

“Nevertheless, She Persisted - #chronicillness #perserverence #facingadversity #migraineExhausted from the day, I slept pretty good which is not always the case. I woke up Sunday Morning ready to go to church. Luckily, I only had to take a couple of breaks while getting ready and I made it there! I was estatic until I walked in the door and a strong floral scent hit me in the face. I guess someone had decided to spray deodorizer in the church. Well, I had to leave because it triggered another Hemiplegic Migraine.

I guess you can see why my weekend mantra was, “Nevertheless, she persisted.” Stopping was not an option, I persisted. I didn’t give up.
