This Baked Ziti is a meal that has been a regular on my menu for years. I have made this several times for large groups because it is easy to make and just as easy to make in large quantities.
I do need to tell you that it does use a canned sauce but that is one of the reasons that it is so incredibly easy. I “doctor” up the sauce with fresh meat, mushrooms, onions and spices and no one will know unless you tell them. There is a time and place for a homemade sauce so if you have time to make one, you can do that too.
The Baked Ziti has feed entire family gatherings after a funeral. I just put it with a salad and some bread and 30 people were easily fed! It is absolutely my “go to” if I need to feed a crowd.
This is also a great weeknight alternative to Lasagna. Since Lasagna has the time consuming job of all of the layering, Baked Ziti gives you all of the flavor without all of the work. To top it off, this actually manages to taste better the next day so left overs are a must do.
