We all have those days when everything that can go wrong will go wrong. You are running late, you can’t find your keys, your son lost his shoe and then you realize your gas tank is on empty. It is enough to make you want to pull your hair out sometimes. Days like this is exactly why taking steps to challenge your mindset is important.

5 Steps to Challenge your Mindset

What is mindset anyway? You mindset is how your beliefs and thoughts help you to perceive the world around you. Basically, it is the way you think of things.

If you have a negative mindset, you always seem to look at the negative aspects of life. Whereas, if you have a positive mindset, you try to see the good in every situation.

So, how can you challenge your mindset and become a more positive person? Here are five easy steps to get you started.

1. Make a Plan

Start everyday with a plan! Set out the clothes, the keys and the shoes the night before. It will keep your morning from feeling so frantic and will stop those negative thoughts from entering your head!

2. Control your Thoughts

If you are a negative thinker, break that habit immediately! Negative self talk is the best way to be defeated. If you want to master something or face a challenge in a better way, stop telling yourself the negative things.

3. Ignore your Past

Stop looking at your past to determine your future! Life may have been tough and let’s face it, we have all been through some stuff. But that ugliness only defines us if we allow it to! Let that hard stuff be proof of how tough you are!

4. Stop Believing you Will be Happy When…

You don’t need a better home, car, job or whatever it is to be happy. You can be happy right now just by being grateful for the things you have at this very moment. True happiness comes from within yourself and not from circumstance, money or possessions. Find something to be happy about and hold on to it for dear life!

5. Ask Yourself Questions!

If you just can’t seem to change your mindset into a more positive one. Ask yourself questions! These need to be open ended questions that make you think. Find out why your feel how you do about the things around you. Find the culprit and change it.

Challenge your Mindset

We all know someone that seems to meet every challenge no matter how hard it is. When life seems to crumble for them, they always seem to be the most positive person in the room. For me, this person is Wendy at One Exceptional Life. Her positive mindset is contagious and has helped me through many of my worst days.

Imagine waking up from a coma and finding that you no longer have hands or feet. Everything you had known has been completely transformed. This is Wendy’s story and in her new book, Victory Over Affliction, she tells the story of her struggles, her fears and her triumphs.

So, please don’t limit yourself. You will miss out on some beautiful experiences, goals, and memories and life is too short for that.
