Transient Aphasia – When the Words Won’t Come

One of the most annoying symptoms that I have during my Hemiplegic Migraine episodes is aphasia. The National Aphasia Association defines aphasia as, “an impairment of language, affecting the production or comprehension of speech.”  Although aphasia is generally permanent, transient aphasia is temporary and is the type that accompanies migraines. What is it like to have Transient Aphasia? Most importantly, I know what I want to say but when I try to say the words everything sounds garbled, slurred and unrecognizable. It sounds like I am talking a foreign language that doesn’t exist. It is very frustrating to have the words and to be unable to get them out correctly.…

    Slow Cooker Zuppa Toscana

Nothing says fall like some nice hot soup and nothing makes it easier like the slow cooker! They are the perfect combination to create a hearty meal for your family. This Zuppa Toscana recipe is a copycat recipe of the famous one from Olive Garden but I think it is so much better! This recipe is supposed to have a little kick of spice but the hot Italian sausage is too much for me so I use the original flavor Italian sausage and add a tiny pinch of red pepper flakes for that touch of heat. You can make this to suite your family’s taste preferences. It is also versatile…

October Link Up with A Chronic Voice

My how time does fly by! It is already October and this is my 3rd month taking part in the Link Up Party at A Chronic Voice. I enjoy this Link Up because it includes writing prompts and that makes it a challenge.  The October Link Up prompts look particularly challenging so I am a little worried about how it might turn out. This is how the Link Up works. Every month a new Prompt is posted on the Link Up Page on A Chronic Voice. Each month there are 5 prompts listed and you must write something about at least 3 of them in the post. Then you submit…

  • Book Review of America's First Daughter by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie - #TheFrozenMind #bookreview #historicalfiction #americanrevolution #thomasjefferson

Book Review: America’s First Daughter by Stephanie Dray & Laura Kamoie

As you can tell by my other book reviews, I love historical fiction. I love finding out about actual historical events as they are woven into a fictional story. It can be difficult to find books that are researched enough to be considered historically accurate and I have definitely found this accuracy with these authors. America’s First Daughter is the debut novel by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie. In my opinion, they checked everything off the list that I look for in a good historical fiction novel. Book: America’s First Daughter Author: Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie Narrator: Cassandra Campbell Listening Time: 23 hrs and 28 mins My Rating:   I ran across…
